Throughput jumps fivefold at ZA Trans warehouse

THE WAREHOUSING operation at ZA Trans Logistics has increased its throughput fivefold in the last year, according to Raymond Lawrence, warehouse manager.
The company’s monthly tonnage throughput has jumped from 250-tons a month last February, to 1 500-t a month this February, he told FTW.
“And we expect this growth to continue over the next year,” Lawrence said.
This path to success is a result of the ZA Trans philosophy - offering a comprehensive range of products serving the collection, storage and distribution needs of clients, and a flexible operation designed to adjust to these needs, he said.
“At ZA Trans we have realised the need to understand our clients’ businesses.
“We have, therefore, adopted the attitude of Ôthe more we know about what you do, the better we can assist you in your total supply chain’.”
The company has designed a logistics facility to cater for all the requirements, Lawrence added, from
foodstuffs to metals and hazardous products.
“Within these wide-ranging parameters, we can adapt with ease to specific requirements for individual clients.”
The warehouse is an 11000m2 unit, and is equipped with digital CCTV and state-of-the art equipment and racking. “This,” said Lawrence, “ensures the safe keeping and handling of all products.”
The operation is capable of handling a wide range of functions. “Everything from pick-and-pack operations to bulk handling and storage of products; bonded and special bond to duty paid.”
The company also runs a fleet of vehicles dedicated to handling goods passing through the warehouse facility.
“These have specially been selected to ensure smooth and effective collection and distribution of both products and containers - both from all over South Africa and to-and-from neighbouring countries.”
