A new round-the-world
shipping service extends one
tentacle into South Africa,
according to Paul Scannell
of local agents, Seaclad
Maritime.
The Three Oceans Service
(3OL) has been introduced by
Singapore-based SE Shipping
Lines (SESL), he told FTW.
“It links Australia and New
Zealand to SA,” he added,
“with vessels then sailing
on to Europe, through the
Panama Canal, and calling
at a number of South Pacific
island ports before returning
to Australia.
Scannell advised that the
service, after a couple of false
starts, was now under way.
The first vessel is the
tweendecker Magdalena Green,
which was due to have arrived
in Durban earlier this week.
“After discharging and
loading in Durban, the ship
will sail for Rotterdam, before
heading for the Panama Canal
and the Pacific.
