There’s a new SA-Spain
air cargo connection with
Express Air having been
appointed general sales and
servicing agent (GSSA) for
Iberia Cargo from July 1.
The Spanish
airline operates A340
aircraft, each with
14 000-kilograms of
payload, between Madrid
and Johannesburg on
Mondays, Tuesdays,
Thursdays and Sundays.
“We believe our cargo
facility at OR Tambo
International Airport
offers an ideal hub-andspoke
distribution system
for all Iberia’s import
and export cargo,” said
Express Air MD, Garry
Marshall.
It sees the Express Air
network in and out of 27
key African destinations
connecting to all 102
Iberia destinations in 39
countries spread round
the Balearic and Canary
Islands, Spain and
Europe, Africa and the
Middle East, as well as
Central, South and North
America.
“The modern Iberia
Cargo Terminal in
Madrid is a natural
gateway into Europe
for the entry and exit of
intercontinental cargo,”
said Marshall. “Also,
by offering extensive
perishable facilities in
both Madrid and SA,
Iberia is well-placed to
handle meat, fish, fruit
and vegetables.”
