UAE-based cargo carrier SolitAir has launched freight services between Dubai and Accra, extending its African network to 21 destinations in 17 countries.
The new 6 250-kilometre service connects the carrier’s hub at Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai with Kotoka International Airport in Ghana.
The route would add capacity for Ghanaian exports, including gold, food products and perishables, while supporting inbound cargo from international markets, SolitAir said.
Founder and CEO Hamdi Osman said Kotoka International Airport handled between 40 000 and 50 000 tonnes of cargo annually.
“This route will connect Middle Eastern logistics networks with West Africa’s export market for agricultural and valuable goods, while fulfilling the region’s increasing demand for inbound global imports,” he said.
SolitAir operates seven Boeing 737-800 converted freighters, each with a cargo capacity of 20 tonnes. The airline plans to expand its fleet to 20 aircraft by the end of 2027.
The addition of Accra follows the recent launch of services to Nigeria. SolitAir’s African network includes South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of the Congo.
