IT WAS a closely contested race for the top student honours at Durban-based Skills Development Specialists, but in
the end it was SA Revenue Services'
candidates who won the day.
Johann Scheepers from SARS: Customs and Excise in Port Elizabeth took first prize for the SAAFF Correspondence Course in Customs Affairs. Marguerite Thornes (Spectrum Shipping, Johannesburg) and Janine Gardener (Renfreight Circle, Durban) took second and third positions.
The student of the year award for the South African Customs Clearing Part II advanced course went to Martin Greyling from SARS: Customs and Excise in Durban. Gavin Garrow (Pronto Clearing, Cape Town) and Logan Naidoo (Transglobal Cargo, Durban) were placed second and third.
Johann Swiegelaar of TRT Shipping, Cape Town took home the Excellence in Training trophy for his efforts as a course facilitator and mentor.
