Luxembourg hub serves rest of Europe
YEARS OF experience have honed ASB Safcor Panalpina’s air charter operation into a finely-tuned machine.
The company operates three Boeing 747 charter flights a week southbound from its Luxembourg hub.
But they’re not charter flights in the true sense, says export GM Wally Hoddinott.
Affiliate Panalpina company, Air Sea Broker, whose only customer is Panalpina, purchases space on these aircraft and sells it to the Panalpina houses who fill them with cargo.
The aircraft offer 100 tons of capacity on each southbound flight, and currently volumes are strong, according to Hoddinott, made up chiefly of hi-tech equipment.
“We’ve also recently started a northbound consolidation service, using our Luxembourg hub as a distribution point,” he told FTW.
With Panalpina’s wide network of trucking services, this becomes a feasible option into Europe.
One of the strengths of the operation is the integrated service offering, an all-inclusive package from supplier’s warehouse to the consignee’s door, and all under the Panalpina banner.
