CLIVE EMDON THE EXPORT of value-added products to China is top of South Africa’s trade agenda, says Ndumiso Ntshinga, the South Africa ambassador to China. He made clear the need for a more diverse basket of exports to the region in an interview published in the monthly China Analyst for Africa by the Beijing Axis. South Africa currently exports raw materials to China, and very few value-added products. Imports from China are predominantly value added products. Increased and sustained investment in South Africa from China comes down to branding says Ntshinga. “The more China knows about South Africa the more opportunities will be created.”
