Automation and real-time information remain the driving factors in business today, reducing errors in information and cost, according to Marius van Jaarsveld, director of ID Verification Systems (IVS).And the increase in remote interaction will drive demand for automation and real-time information, says Van Jaarsveld.“We are in uncertain times and with all the job losses and growing insecurity we will be seeing a lot more creativity from people introducing new systems and hardware that will facilitate the growth of the country,” he says. Van Jaarsveld believes technology is critical in reducing contact between people and reducing paper usage to streamline processes.“Even before the Covid-19 outbreak that was the trend,” he says. “With our internet speed and data centres available, more and more companies have been moving towards only cloud-based systems. It is more secure in the sense of no servers on the premises, no network or server maintenance, and backups are done by the data centres. Overall it reduces costs and information is also more centrally available.”But, he says, one of the biggest challenges with technology is the initial time and development costs involved in getting a stable product out. “After that there are the changes to the products and implementation roll outs across companies and their branches that also add to cost.”To address this IVS is developing all its products in a Progressive Web Application Environment (PWA Apps). “This means that it is faster to develop, test and implement across the board. You install the application once and all changes made on the application are immediately live across the board for all users.”According to Van Jaarsveld, reducing implementation costs and time are of increasing importance in the development of new t ech nolog y.“Of course these applications will also continuously evolve as industry requirements change."
