Easyclear opens Durban agency

THE BASIS of success for small informatics servicing companies such as Easyclear is to offer clients a well-designed system that provides a wide range of services, says general manager CJ Pagel. Besides a freight clearing system the Pomona-based company is able to provide for the monitoring of acquittals – the clearance of cargo by 3rd parties 30 days after a shipment by following these up with constant reminders to clients. This is designed to obviate penalties of up to R1 000 a time that they may have overlooked. “We have a unique profit and loss system that enables a client to see what he has made on a shipment, interlinking with 3rd party accounting packages into debtors and creditors from our invoicing module. There is also a warehousing module incorporating free storage and a Customs bonded system, an acquittal system and a customs deferment system.” The need for freight companies to be electronically compliant with customs SAD500 by October 1 this year provided Easyclear with the impetus to open an agency in Durban through Cargo Xchange. “We have attract+ed new business this way,” says Pagel. Our Cape Town branch is opening in January 2007, and the infrastructure is currently being put in place. Once this is achieved, Easyclear will be able to service the entire country and also widen its market share.
