THE PORT of PE's Port Engineers Department has been awarded a 5 Star NOSA grading.
PE harbour is the fourth South African port to achieve this grading, and the sixth business in Port Elizabeth to reach this standard, according to Port Authority spokesperson Lize Hayward.
"One of the challenges facing management of business today, amongst others, is to conserve their human, physical and financial resources," says Johan Barnard, the Port Authority Division's Risk Manager.
"Maximising profits equals minimising losses," he says. "This is a benchmarking tool with other companies. It gives our clients a clear indication of what standards they are dealing with. "It also means that the Port Authority is pro-active in preventing losses and ensuring a safe and healthy environment for its employees while enhancing productivity at the same time."
