Unifeeder has confirmed the arrival of a maiden vessel, the Oceana, to inaugurate the shortsea line’s newly implemented service linking Mozambique’s Port of Maputo with the ports of Jebel Ali and Mundra.
The vessel carried 1280 TEUs from the aforementioned ports in the UAE and India when it sailed into Maputo on Sunday.
Its load included more than 500 new reefer containers.
Unifeeder recently said that South African fruit outflows from Limpopo and the Lowveld in Mpumulanga, especially citrus, were a major focus of anticipated cold-chain cargo for its Maputo, Jebel Ali, Mundra service.
The line described the arrival of the vessel as a “proud moment for all of us.
“The Oceana was warmly welcomed and brought in by our agency team, Maputo Port Development Company, (MPDC) and DP World Maputo.”
