In light of additional regulations imposed by SA ports during the Covid-19 lockdown to combat congestion in the terminals, Hapag-Lloyd has amended its import and overstay processes
According to a statement released earlier this week, it is mandatory for each shipping line to provide an evacuation plan 48 hours prior to the vessel berthing. By the deadline, all containers need to be assigned in Navis.
“In order to comply, we will require all release documentation including cargo dues, bill of entry, Navis transporter details, necessary certificates (where applicable) and proof of payment 72 hours prior to vessel berthing” a spokesman said.
“In cases where the above information is not made available, and as Transnet Port Terminals (TPT) is attempting to block stack units to speed up evacuation, the containers will be moved to our overstay depot in order to comply.”
