The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority has sent out a strongly worded message denying the accuracy of a viral video that alleges port workers are stealing and changing tyres from imported cars.
The director of the Port of Tema, Sandra Opoku, said that investigations had made it clear that the activities shown in the video had not taken place in any of its terminals - either at the Port of Tema or Takoradi.
“Such acts are not tolerated by the Authority,” she said.
“The landmarks and locations identified in the video are not found in the Golden Jubilee Terminal or Terminal 1operated by GPA or in the private terminal operated by MPS.”
Most port workers wore reflectors with the embossment of GPA or its logo when they are staff of the Authority, she said.
In addition, the location of the video is not consistent with landmarks at the Port of Tema.
