Chicken Quota Permit
On February 2 the
Department of Agriculture,
Forestry and Fisheries (Daff)
called for applications for
Daff quota import permits
in terms of the rebate item
460.0310207.14.9101.07
of the Customs and Excise
Act, 1964 for rebate of the
full anti-dumping duty
on bone-in cuts of the
species Gallus Domesticus,
frozen, classifiable in tariff
subheading 0207.14.9,
imported from or originating
in the United States of
America (USA).
Applications for the Daff
quota permits are due as
follows (a) For the first
quarter of the quota year,
valid for importation during
the period April 1-June 30,
2016, within two weeks
from the date of publication
of this notice – 14 February
2016. (b) For the second
quarter of the quota year
valid for importation during
the period July 1-September
30, 2016 – from May 1-31
2016. (c) For the third quarter
of the quota year valid for
importation during the
period October 1- December
31, 2016 – from August 1-31,
2016. (d) For the fourth
quarter of the quota year
valid for importation during
the period January 1-March
31, 2017 - from November
1-30, 2016.
A total quota of 65 000
tonnes is available for the
quota period starting April
1-March 31, 2017. According
to Daff the quota will be
allocated on a quarterly basis
in equal amounts of 16 250
tonnes per quarter.
A fee of R820.00 per quota
permit will be payable for
permits and replacement
permits issued from the
April 1, 2016.
The Black

Industry has launched the
Black Industrialists Policy,
a key part of government’s
broad industrialisation
initiatives to expand the
industrial base and inject
new entrepreneurial
dynamism into the economy.
It calls for bolder policy
interventions on the part
of the state to expand the
industrial base of the country
and grow the economy
through dedicated support
to black industrialists, as per
the Industrial Policy Action
Plan (IPAP).

On February 4, 2016 the
South African Revenue
Service (Sars) published the
status overview of all customs
agreements on mutual
administrative assistance –
the updated list of treaties
in process of negotiation or
finalised but not yet signed.

fitted with functional sealed
counters, is due by February
28, 2016.
Comment on Sars’ draft
Binding General Ruling on
the Value-added Tax (VAT)
treatment of the supply or
importation of vegetable oil is
due by February 22, 2016.
