DP World has signed an agreement with GulfCap Africa to develop a 222 hectare industrial and logistics park near the Port of Mombasa in Kenya, expanding its footprint in East Africa and strengthening the region’s trade infrastructure.
The Mombasa Industrial Park Special Economic Zone, located less than 20 km from Kenya’s main sea port, will be developed in phases with the intention to serve manufacturers, logistics providers and regional distribution businesses.
The development is designed to enhance the efficiency of regional supply chains by combining industrial, warehousing and logistics infrastructure in a strategic location close to one of Africa’s busiest ports, according to DP World.
The company said the project will support Kenya’s ambitions to strengthen its position as a regional trade and logistics hub serving East and Central Africa, including landlocked markets that rely on the Port of Mombasa.
The development reflects the company’s strategy of investing in integrated logistics ecosystems that facilitate trade and improve supply chain efficiency, said DP World Group Chief Executive Officer Yuvraj Narayan.
The project will create an environment where manufacturers, logistics companies and service providers can operate closer to key transport infrastructure, improving connectivity and supporting economic growth, said Mohammed Akoojee, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of DP World’s Africa region.
The Mombasa Industrial Park is part of DP World’s broader expansion strategy across Africa where the company continues to invest in ports, inland logistics, economic zones and digital trade infrastructure.
