AFTER SEVERAL years of exceptional growth, there was a decline in international courier volumes in 2005. “This was largely attributable to the strong rand which resulted in a slow-down in the manufacturing and export industries which impact directly on our international business,” says divisional director OCS Worldwide Allan Stals. This was however balanced by the domestic market which experienced phenomenal growth, says Stals, as a direct result of the country’s strong economy. A division of UTi, OCS focuses on customised solutions. “We don’t just sell a courier option but have a wide range of services ranging from international and domestic courier to mail consolidation and mail fulfilment. We identify the customer’s needs and tailor a solution to meet those needs. “As part of the UTi group, we have the benefit of their infrastructure but with the flexibility of a smaller courier company.”
