Last week’s announcement
by groupage major
Vanguard Logistics
Services (Vanguard) of the
acquisition of CHC Supply
Chain Management (CHC)
creates an integrated
new entity with control
over a range of previously
outsourced services, says
Vanguard Global CFO
Thurso Barendse.
While Vanguard’s recent
acquisition of International
Liner Agencies (ILA)
reinforced its footprint in
the region, the addition of
CHC extends its in-house
control to LCL container
unpacking and packing,
cross docking, warehousing
and transport.
But it's business as
usual for both companies,
says managing director of
Vanguard Logistics SA,
Rod Taylor. “Both will
continue to operate under
their current brand and
leadership.”
CHC brings over 30 years
of history in supply chain
management in South
Africa, with customslicensed
container depots
and warehouses in Durban,
Johannesburg, Cape Town
and Port Elizabeth. “With
nearly
20 000 sqm under
management, CHC delivers
ownership of the full range
of solutions including
groupage operations, FCL
management, customs
stops and detentions,
warehousing and transport
to the Vanguard network,”
says Taylor.
Headquartered in
its Durban facility in
Prospecton, KZN, CHC
also has warehouses in
Johannesburg, Cape
Town and Port Elizabeth
totalling 20 000 sqm. “All
the facilities are customs
registered, enabling CHC
to deliver the full range of
container freight station
services,” says managing
director Simon Chalker.
“We will continue to
expand our network,
solutions and product
integration to serve our
customers’ logistics needs,”
Barendse added.
