India is on track to become
the world’s fourth largest
economy in 2022, the
International Monetary Fund
(IMF) said in a report this
month.
“Ranking countries
and regions on their gross
domestic product for 2017 and
2022 based on IMF forecasts,
India will surpass Germany
by 2022 as the world’s fourth
largest economy, with the UK
dropping out of the top five
after 2017,” said Changyong
Rhee, director of the Asia
and Pacific department of the
IMF.
India’s growth is projected
to rebound to 7.2% in fiscal
year 2018 and further to 7.7%
in 2019, he said.
