UK-based company Chapman
Freeborn Airchartering
has opened a new office in
Uganda, claiming to be the first
international charter firm to
establish a presence in Africa.
The new office will be headed
by South African, Iain Clark,
who ran MK Airlines until
last year.
“I will be responsible for
the development of cargo and
passenger business as regional
manager of Africa,” he told FTW.
“We will be offering the
freight industry a full range of
services.”
According to Carol Norman,
MD of the Chapman Freeborn
Group, this Ugandan venture
follows the successful launch
of the company’s first South
American operation last year.
“The addition of an African
office consolidates our global
coverage,” she told FTW.
“Working closely with the rest
of Chapman Freeborn’s network,
Entebbe can accommodate
wide-body flights from Europe,
the Middle East, Asia, the
Far East and Southern Africa.
Appropriate aircraft can then be
utilised to connect to smaller and
remote airstrips across Africa.”
Chapman Freeborn has 32
offices in 22 countries across five
continents and co-ordinated more
than 5 000 cargo and passenger
charters last year.
