Beira-based Transportes Carlos Mesquita (TCM) has expanded its footprint to the north of Mozambique.“In accordance with the TCM expansion strategy aimed at increasing the coverage of our services through positioning our company in key points of the country's logistics corridors, in 2019 we opened our branch in Nacala in the province of Nampula,” director Celso Mesquita told Freight News.“In addition to operating from the well-established Port of Beira, we started to operate from the growing Port of Nacala, transporting cargo both to the hinterland countries as well as nationally,” he said. TCM trucks link the ports of Beira and Nacala to neighbouring Zambia, Malawi and Zimbabwe through the Beira and Nacala corridors.TCM has also been investing in new vehicles and equipment to support its expansion.“We combined this geographical expansion with the efforts made to increase the size of the fleet in order to present greater coverage - not only in terms of geographic location, but also in terms of the cargo capacity to be transported.“This additional coverage, combined with the more than 350 pieces of equipment (trucks and machines), as well as the warehouses we have, allows us to provide a one-stop-shop solution for our customers, which includes handling, storage and transport of cargo,” says Mesquita. And there is proven demand.“For this year we expect an increase of 20% in the cargo capacity to be transported with the acquisition of new trucks and inter-link trailers. “With the gradual return of the world economy to its normal pace, we feel confident to be able to provide quality services to our customers and to be able to meet the demand that is expected to grow in the coming months,” he says.
