LONG TIME Eastern Cape businessman Kevin
Glegg of Ibhayi Freight has an interesting
way of measuring economic prospects in the
province.
“In the last year we have had two big
national companies approach us to buy the
company. We did not take up the offers,
but the fact that we were approached is
significant. It shows that the Eastern Cape
is attracting national and international
attention,” he says.
Ibhayi specialises in the import and export
of hides, skins, wool and mohair. The past
financial year was “the best ever,” according
to Glegg.
The company has increased its clearing
and forwarding capacity, and is providing
clearing services for a number of other
independent agents.
“This is all part of the growing interest in
Port Elizabeth,” he says.
