The South African National Roads Agency Limited (Sanral) announced this week that roadworks had been scheduled across different sections of the N2 in the Eastern Cape this year.
Section 13 of the national road between Grahamstown and Fish River Pass will be closed from 14h00 to 16h30 pm every Thursday until 21 June 2018 for scheduled controlled blasting.
Sanral southern region manager, Mbulelo Peterson, has advised motorists to use the R72 through Port Alfred as an alternative route until the roadworks have been completed.
Additionally, construction work will be undertaken on the N2 between Toleni and Ibika from Mondays to Saturdays until March 2019. The road will be open to two-way traffic between sunset and sunrise daily, while all works on the road through the town of Butterworth will be done between 19h00 and 06h00.
“Work will take place within stop-and-go closures and motorists can expect waiting periods of up to 20 minutes per closure,” added Peterson.
