SAA Cargo (SAAC) will
align its freighter services
to meet demand as the
Zambian economy continues to
diversify, says Dixon Nkomo,
executive manager: sales and
marketing – Africa.
“We offer freighter services
in order to support growth, and
therefore SAAC will continue to
increase frequencies in response
to customer demands,” he says.
SAA operates passenger
and freighter services between
Zambia and South Africa.
There are three passenger
flights a day, seven days a week,
and three freighter services a
week.
Palletised and loose load cargo
are catered for, and an SAAC
courier service is being piloted
for the Zambian market, he says.
Demand is growing. “Both
passenger and freighter services
have seen an increase in the
frequencies. The increase is
notable in inbound general
cargo, as well as greater demand
for Zambian perishables, said
Nkomo.
Europe remains a big
perishable market for goods
from Zambia together with
imports from the Asian market
into Zambia, he says.
