The Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) will host 14 local oil and gas companies at the 26th Africa Oil Week (AOW) in Cape Town next week, with the summit set showcase the current South African oil and gas landscape.
The summit – which will run from 4 to 8 November – will include companies from the South African National Pavilion for the first time, and according to Deputy Minister of the dti Nomalungelo Gina, It will provide an opportunity to network with over 100 industry leaders in the energy sector.
“The South African companies participating in the summit will also have the opportunity to meet with the biggest global players in the private sector. The showcase will be an excellent opportunity for South African companies which are looking to access Pan-African energy tenders or global debt and equity partners to expand their businesses,” said Gina.
“The inclusion of the South African Pavilion falls in line with the country’s strategic goal of implementing an outward investment-led trade approach, promoting industrial development, job creation, foreign direct investment and economic growth to position South Africa as a globally competitive investment destination.”
The AOW showcases Africa’s upstream oil and gas sector, with more than 1 500 senior oil and gas decision-makers from the oil and gas value-chain in attendance.
