The Malawi government has contracted the Tanzania-Zambia Railway Authority (Tazara) to transport 48 million litres of petroleum products from Dar es Salaam port in the next 12 months, starting from August.
This was announced yesterday (Monday), following a meeting between Tazara and a delegation of eleven officials from the Malawi government in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Tazara is reportedly also in discussions with the Zambian government and another private firm to begin transporting at least 14 million litres of fuel per month from the Port of Dar es Salaam to Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
