CLA agreement with US company DURBAN-BASED Container Leasing Africa (CLA) has concluded a distributorship agreement with UK-based Genstar Instant Space for the distribution in South Africa of used containers.
There's a big demand for used boxes in South Africa, where very little is available from local sources, CLA's Bram Djikstra told FTW.
The majority are imported. CLA will also provide logistics services - tracking of equipment, control when off-hired etc - for Genstar Corporation San Francisco in South Africa.
Genstar, one of the world's largest international container lessors, is headquartered in San Francisco. Genstar Instant Space, which is the division solely dedicated to the used container market, has its headquarters in Gerrards Cross, London. Their parent company, GE Capital Services, is a diversified financial services company and wholly owned subsidiary of the General Electric group.
