DUBAI-BASED security and valuables handling company Transguard will begin operating a new Cargo Terminal in the Dubai Airport Free Zone later this year. Part of the Emirates Group, Transguard specialises in the handling of bullion, jewellery, diamonds and currency. At present it processes monthly gold and jewellery shipments to the value of US$300 million and expects gold imports to reach around 1 000 tonnes annually. Dubai Civil Aviation has nominated Transguard as the only authorised security service provider at Dubai International Airport.
