The final day of Poul Hestbaek’s tenure as chief executive officer of Hamburg Süd last week, which followed the exit of other senior executives, heralds the transition of Maersk from its multi-brand strategy to a single, unified global brand under the Danish line’s identity.
“My responsibility for overseeing the successful completion of the Hamburg Süd brand integration into Maersk is reaching its conclusion,” Hestbaek wrote in a message on his Linkedin account recently.
“As I prepare to embark on a new chapter, I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for the incredible journey I've had during the past two decades at Hamburg Süd.”
He was elevated to the CEO position in April 2021 with the departure of Dr Arnt Vespermann who had been named CEO in 2017 after Maersk acquired the company.
He was charged with integrating Hamburg Süd as a brand within AP Moller-Maersk.
