Role Overview:
This role is responsible for analyzing and preparing cost estimates for the international movement of goods. You will assess key logistical elements—such as transportation, customs requirements, documentation, and associated costs—to ensure competitive pricing and operational efficiency in export and cross-trade shipments. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of international shipping processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Estimation & Analysis:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for cross-trade shipments, including freight, customs duties, warehousing, and other related charges.
- Evaluate rates from various shipping lines and agents to identify cost-effective options.
- Prepare weekly rate sheets for proactive pricing.
- Provide pricing comparisons and options for customers.
Quotations & Proposals:
- Prepare and present pricing estimates for the Sales and Procurement teams based on their specific requirements.
- Collaborate with Sales, Procurement, and Logistics to deliver optimized and tailored pricing proposals.
Vendor Management:
- Source and negotiate rates with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and other service providers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with logistics vendors and partners.
Documentation & Compliance:
- Ensure all cost estimates comply with international trade regulations and standards.
- Assist in verifying export documentation such as commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Liaise with internal teams—including Sales, Procurement, and Operations—to gather shipment details and requirements.
- Communicate with customers to clarify logistics needs and address any concerns.
Data Management & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of cost estimates and quotations for analysis and tracking.
- Generate reports on cost variances, profit margins, and market trends.
