A TOTAL service package. That's what the market is looking for, according to Peter Stoffberg, director of Freight City in Cape Town.
"And that's what we have aimed to offer," he said.
Full packing and unpacking services for both FCL (full container load) and LCL (less-than container load) boxes are available; with the 80 000 square metre site serviced by both road and rail (four sidings) transport.
The whole operation is computer-controlled - offering cost-efficient planning and handling; security; and the ability to stock and distribute goods on a JIT (just in time) basis.
Added to this, said Stoffberg, are further security (the depot patrolled by security guards 24-hours-a-day, for example) and damage-prevention procedures. "The latter can be adapted to any product," he told FTW, "and together they mean clients can be sure of the safe arrival of their goods."
Dunnage airbags used while handling delicate products and the latest in climate control systems (for controlling humidity in containers) are only two of the methods contributing to this promise of safe arrival.
"We are always watching out for the newest industry aids designed to ensure goods are safe from theft and damage," said Stoffberg. "And, by striving to be an extension of the user's company, we can understand their needs better - and supply exactly what they want."
