The 9 200-TEU container vessel APL Vancouver – whose cargo hold caught fire late last month – has been cleared to travel to Singapore where it will be inspected by surveyors.
The ship had to be partly evacuated during the firefighting operations although there were no injuries reported.
The cause of the incident - which occurred off the Vietnamese coast on January 31 – is yet to be established but general average has been declared, although details have not been revealed.
APL said in a statement that additional safety measures had been provided, including an escort tug for the duration of the voyage from Vietnam to Singapore
