Three years since the introduction by the Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry of electronic Certificates of Origin, there’s been a significant move to the electronic version with thousands issued annually, according to a JCCI spokesperson.
“As an International Chamber of Commerce-accredited issuer of trade certification, JCCI traditionally issued manual Certificates of Origin,” the spokesperson said. “Now, however, the world-wide trend is towards the issuing of electronic Certificates of Origin - and the JCCI was the trail-blazer in South Africa.”
The eCertify system selected by JCCI has been extensively tested in other countries and is widely accepted, according to the spokesperson.
