The port authority of Gibraltar (GBA) is monitoring a dry bulk carrier OS 35, stuck on a sandbank some 320 kilometres east of Catalan Bay, after it was involved in a collision with a liquid natural gas (LNG) carrier.
The OS 35 was making its way to the Dutch Port of Vlessingen at the time it collided with the Adam LNG early this morning.
Laden with steel girders, 183 tonnes of heavy fuel oil, 250 tonnes of diesel, and 27 tonnes of lube oil, the 23-year-old bulker was ordered towards a berth area where it remains stationary in 17 metres of water.
The GBA has since declared an exclusion zone of 200 metres around the OS 35.
The Adam LNG was not damaged in the incident and, according to online vessel location, has rounded the British enclave and is heading north-west toward the port.
Latest from the OS 35 is that it’s listing towards starboard.
It’s not clear whether the vessel is taking in water.
