Transporters are advised that strike action is ongoing in the Dinokana area just before the N4 Skilpadshek Border Post into Botswana.
This was confirmed by Mike Fitzmaurice, chief executive of the Federation of East and Southern African Road Transport Associations (Fesarta).
In an update received this morning, Fitzmaurice said: “Please note there is more strike action between Zeerust and the Skilpadshek border.”
Last night he warned cross-border hauliers using the Platinum Highway going towards the Trans-Kalahari Corridor that the N4 had been closed due to protest action.
As a result some trucks were using alternative routes while others continued along the N4.
Transporters were warned though that it may not be safe.
Fesarta also reported that some trucks were diverting to Kopfontein and Ramatlabama, alternative points of entry respectively north and south of Skilpadshek.
