Bakwena Platinum Corridor Concessionaire has alerted motorists to criminal activities taking place along the N1/N4 and its surrounding provincial and national routes.
The N4 between the R512 off-ramp and Bapong has seen rocks placed in the road, and on the N4 between the M17 towards Brits and the N1 between Pienaarsrivier and Wallmansthal, there’s been an increase in spiking incidents, according the SA Police Service (Saps).
Important information for transporters:
- These spiking incidents are predominantly taking place at night; motorists are encouraged to avoid travelling at night if possible.
- Should you need to travel at night, please be vigilant and reduce your speed to enable better visibility of the road ahead.
- Do not stop if you hit an object, reduce your speed and try to drive as far as possible to the nearest place of safety where you can pull over and get assistance.
There are regular patrols on the N1/N4 route 24/7 and patrollers regularly remove items from the road.
