The office of the SA Revenue Service at Beitbridge border remained shut this afternoon after an official tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday.
In response to the confirmation a deep-clean of facilities was ordered which, according to initial reports this morning, had been satisfactorily conducted, which should have seen the re-opening of the border at 9am.
However, as the time arrived for Sars to resume operations, their office remained shut.
The Federation of East and Southern African Road Transport Associations (Fesarta) confirmed that the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority was working on the Zim side at Beitbridge but Sars was not working yet on the SA side.
Just after 2pm the latest Fesarta update stated: “Please be advised that Sars officials are in discussions with management and as of yet no processes are taking place.”
