Angola’s government is exploring a joint venture with the Democratic Republic of Congo for further exploration of oil reserves in the Lianzi oil field.
The oil field is located in a unitised zone which includes parts of the Block 14 Licence (Republic of Angola) and the Haute Mer Permit (Republic of Congo) about 105km offshore of the two countries.
According to Angolan news agency Angop, the Angolan ambassador to Brazzaville, Vicente Muanda, and the Congolose Oil and Gas Minister, Jean Marc Thystere Tchicaya, are in talks this week.
Currently, the Lianzi project has an estimated production of 36 000 barrels of oil per day,
