Accredited courses can be structured to individual needs
WHEN IT comes to dangerous goods training, there’s no room for compromise at Lufthansa Cargo where two fully qualified trainers conduct the courses in South Africa.
In addition the airline has introduced refresher courses this year for operators who have already completed the training.
Michelle Nolting and Anita Ferri qualified at the Lufthansa Cargo Training Centre in Seeheim, Germany. Having passed their German Civil Aviation (LBA) examinations they are equipped to conduct courses both locally and internationally.
The custom-designed training centre situated 5km from Johannesburg International Airport was launched in response to industry demand for airfreight training on a par with the standard of courses run by the airline overseas. It offers internationally recognised courses at local rates, according to Nolting.
These range from the IATA Dangerous Goods courses - category 3, 4 and 9 - to a range of basic day courses, an agent’s warehouse course and a safety and security course. All of these have a direct bearing on the handling of dangerous goods.
The courses are fully accredited by the South African Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
They can be conducted anywhere in southern Africa and each can be structured to meet the individual requirements of the participants.
