A horror crash involving a truck and a bus ferrying employees of a diamond mine has resulted in the death of 22 people outside Musina in Limpopo province.
A spokesperson for the Department of Transport and Safety in Limpopo, Vongani Chauke, said that the bus had been shuttling staff from the Venetia Diamond Mine belonging to De Beers when the collision occurred.
"The bus collided with a lorry about 25 kilometres from the mine near Musina," Chauke said.
Details about the cause of the collision aren’t known.
The Venetia mine is the largest diamond mine in the country, accounting for more than 40% of South Africa's annual diamond production, and employing over 4 300 people.
