To improve its ship-handling performance, the HHLA Container Terminal Burchardkai (CTB) at the Port of Hamburg in Germany is to go 24/7 from January 15 next year.
This to ensure even faster throughput of vessels, which are growing ever-larger in size. The terminal management see this continuous operating capability as a key step in preparing to efficiently handle these mega-ships. It expects to handle its first 20 000-TEU-capacity containership in the second quarter of next year.
