The 1989-built car carrier Silver Sky burst into flames around 00.30 am on Thursday morning while the ship was docked at the Port of Antwerp, according to online sources.
At the time of writing, the temperature on board was still too high to enter the ship, so the damage caused by the fire has not yet been determined. The Antwerp fire department was working on cooling the vessel, reported World Maritime News.
The 24 crew members were evacuated from the vessel and there have been no reports of injuries as a result of the fire.
