President Jacob Zuma will officially launch the Botlokwa Bridges on Tuesday (October 17) as part of government’s broader infrastructure development in Botlokwa, Molemole Municipality in the Limpopo Province.
The Botlokwa Bridges consist of one road bridge and two pedestrian bridges on the N1 between Polokwane and Makhado.
The bridges were constructed by South African National Roads Agency Limited (Sanral) to ensure improved road safety for both vehicles and pedestrians.
The N1 Botlokwa freeway is the busiest corridor that links South Africa with the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region. These include countries such as Zimbabwe, Malawi, Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia.
Zuma will be joined by Minister of Transport, Joe Maswanganyi.
