The Zimbabwean government is expected to announce the winning bidders for a number of its road upgrade projects by the end of the month, according to news reports.
The country’s state-owned newspaper, The Herald, reported that this included the US$2-billion project for the dualisation of the Beitbridge-Harare and Harare-Chirundu highways.
The publication cited Zimbabwe’s transport and infrastructure development minister, Joram Gumbo, as saying the government had prioritised infrastructure development to boost trade and create jobs.
Other highways to undergo dualisation include the Harare-Nwamapanda, Beitbridge-Bulawayo and Bulawayo-Victoria Falls highways.
