Transporters are advised that South Africa’s border crossing on the Maputo Corridor is clogging up, with trucks backing up at least 15 kilometres from the Lebombo Border Post along the N4.
“Once again we have no explanation as to what the hold-up is, but anticipate delays on loaded trucks of a day or more,” a trade facilitator told the Transit Assistance Bureau (Transist).
Recently, processing delays at the border resulted in truckers protesting in a bid to highlight their issues.
There were fears, the facilitator said, that road blockages by disgruntled drivers could again flare up, with diesel theft, attacks on drivers, and vandalism of transport property in tow.
“Please plan accordingly and assist where possible,” the Transist post said.
