Transglobe Holdings, a joint venture between Dubai-based Sharaf Group and Hamburg-based DAL Deutsche Afrika-Linien, has recently acquired Durban Container Park (DCP) and DCP Cape Town.
DCP in Durban has a capacity of 7 500 TEUs and 9 000 square metres of warehouse storage.
Existing staff have all been retained for their expertise in line with Competition Commission approvals. The existing founder directors, Des Moir and Charles Olsen, will retire in due course but will continue to provide consultancy services in the interim. The new COO is Daniel Hunter.
Hunter, based out of Cape Town, told Freight Newsthat DCP had been established in 2011 and was well recognised in the industry as a world-class container depot, warehousing, and transport company, which specialises in container equipment maintenance and repairs. He said Moir and Olsen had built an organisation with a solid reputation for agile, flexible, and efficient operations and he looked forward to developing it further.
