Investigations are under way following the discovery of the wreckage of an Amazon Prime Air 767 cargo plane in Texas on Sunday.
The plane, operated by Atlas Air, departed from Miami on Friday and was headed to George Bush International Airport in Texas. All three crew members on board died, according to a statement released by Atlas Air and Boeing.
The US National Transportation Safety Board confirmed that a distress call had not been sent out but thanks to CCTV cameras operating at a nearby jail, they were in possession of footage of the crash. The footage recorded the last five seconds before the plane nosedived into Trinity Bay in Texas on Saturday.
“We are now working with the emergency services and other agencies to establish the circumstances around exactly what happened,” said Atlas Air.
Boeing said in a tweet on Saturday that it would “provide technical assistance to the NTSB as it investigates the accident.”
Atlas Air has been operating on behalf of Amazon Prime since 2016.
