IF YOU'RE moving cargo to Angola, you could benefit from unexpected savings in the form of an import rebate.
That's if your cargo is moving on an Angolan shipping service, says Mark Kilbride of Meihuizen International, agents for Angola South Line.
The rebate is only offered to Angolan lines and entitles the importer to a rebate when he clears his cargo at the time of entry.
In addition, companies that are sourcing offshore and moving cargoes into Angola from South Africa, are also entitled to the benefit because ultimately the cargo is moving on our vessel.
We can also release containers to clients offshore which means that boxes don't have to be repacked in South Africa.
The multi-purpose Angola South Line has established a reputation as an exclusive, dedicated niche operator between Cape Town and West Africa, currently offering one monthly vessel.
Considerable interest has however been shown from Durban shippers and the line is currently evaluating the feasibility of including a Durban call.
Agents Meihuizen International, meanwhile, have restructured and launched a new corporate identity.
We are growing the ships agency side of the business and have picked up a lot of non-liner business, says ships agency manager Richard Purchase.
