The South African Police Service has confirmed that they have arrested three suspects at the Beitbridge Border Post for attempting to enter the country from Zimbabwe with explosives.
Limpopo police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe confirmed that the explosives in question were known to be used for blasting open automatic tellers.
The arrests followed after suspicious behaviour of two men and one woman, all in their early 30s, was noticed as they were making their way across the Limpopo River.
Army personnel were called in and the suspects were taken to the Musina police station where their luggage was searched.
Items found in their possession included ignition material and at least 115 types of fuse used in incendiary devices.
The suspects have been detained in Musina where they will appear in court.
