Container lines on the transPacific trade have proposed a further US$400 per FEU general rate increase (GRI) to take effect on April 15.
Added to the previously announced US$300 increase, which came into effect yesterday (Thursday), and the US$500-US$700 increase proposed for May 1, this brings the total proposed rate increase this year to US$1 200-US$1 400.
Although shippers have suggested that the rate increases would likely not take full effect, market analysts have said that the price hikes seem to be holding up to now.
