Canadian cloud applications enterprise Syntax Systems has acquired South African provider of warehousing and stock management for the logistics sector, Argon Supply Chain Solutions.
Argon, which specialises in the SAP space (systems, applications and products), has successfully completed more than 100 warehouse projects and has significant experience in sectors such as consumer products and goods, manufacturing, wholesale and distribution, and life sciences.
Headquartered in Montreal, Syntax boasts 50 years of industry experience and serves over 900 clients worldwide. The company is known for its expertise in managing multi-ERP (enterprise resource planning) systems across secure private, public, hybrid, and multi-cloud environments.
Its partners include SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, AWS, Microsoft, and other major global technology firms.
Syntax CEO, Christian Primeau, said the incorporation of Argon would strengthen the company’s competency and services reach.
Intended logistical improvements formed part of the acquisition, he said.
Peter Kerr and David Webb, co-founders of Argon, said the partnership would enhance the company’s scope through exposing Argon to new clients and markets.
The acquisition is based on earlier collaboration.
Syntax is also assisted in its acquisition process of Argon by North American private equity firm Novacap, which has more than CAD 8 billion (R100bn+) under management.
Novacap senior partner Ted Mocarski said Argon’s addition, the seventh by Syntax since partnering with the asset manager, would bolster the Canadian service provider’s leadership in the SAP ecosystem and cloud industry.
